Frequently Asked Questions


1. What is CoPower?
CoPower is a Third Party Administrator for Delta Dental, and VSP. CoPower was created to act as a specialized purchasing pool and benefit administrator for small employers. The development of these pools provided the benefits of large group plans to employees who would have otherwise not been eligible.

2. How do CoPower and LISI work together?
LISI is responsible for the sale and underwriting of the CoPower product, while CoPower is responsible for billing CoPower groups sold through LISI and providing carriers a list of eligible, enrolled employees.

3. When are premium payments due and when is a late fee applied?
Premium payments are due on the last weekday of the month prior to coverage. There is a $20 late fee if the payment is not received by the 4th of the covered month or if the balance due is not paid in full.

4. What is the address to send a payment?

5. Where is the CoPower ID number located on a group’s invoice?
The CoPower ID number is located in upper right hand corner of the invoice.

6. Where do groups send the Remittance Report once it is filled out?
Due to the time sensitive nature of these documents, Remittance Reports should be faxed immediately to 650-348-1149. They may also be sent on PDF format to any of the CoPower Group Service Representatives (GSRs) listed below:

7. What happens when a group falls below 5 enrollees?
A group must maintain a minimum of 5 enrollees to keep a group active. If a group falls below 5 enrollees, they are given 3 months to bring up their numbers or they risk cancellation.

8. Is there another plan a group can go on when they cannot come up with 5 enrollees to keep their plan in effect?
A group should contact their broker directly for a list of eligible group or individual plans.

9. Is there Open Enrollment?
Most of the CoPower plans do not offer Open Enrollment. All eligible employees should come on to the plan following the completion of their eligibility period (if applicable). All inquiries concerning the late enrollees should be sent directly to a CoPower GSR.

10. What happens if an employee did not enroll his/her dependents when the employee first enrolled but now wants the dependents enrolled? Can they come on at Open Enrollment?
Employees and their dependents must come on to the plan when they are eligible. All inquiries concerning the late enrollee issues should be sent directly to a CoPower GSR.

11. What is the difference between Cal-COBRA and Federal COBRA?
